Recognition

International recognition of ÖSD degrees

ÖSD exams are recognized for different purposes, depending on the country:

 

Austria

  • A1 Grundstufe Deutsch 1 (A1 GD1) and all higher level ÖSD certificates (A2 to C2) are accepted as language certificates for the residence permit of family members in accordance with Austrian residence law.

  • A2 Grundstufe Deutsch 2 (A2 GD2) and all higher level ÖSD certificates (B1 to C2) are accepted as Language Certificates in accordance with the Pact (IA 2011, Module 1: for A2, after 2 years, according to legislation).

  • The B1 Zertifikat Deutsch (ZD) degree and all higher level ÖSD certificates (B2 to C2) are accepted as Language Certificates under the Permanent Residence Pact (IA 2011, Module 2) and / or Austrian nationality.

  • B2 Mittelstufe Deutsch, C1 Oberstufe Deutsch and C2 Wirtschaftssprache Deutsch degrees are accepted as German language certificates as required for registration at Austrian universities (depending on the university).

  • All ÖSD certificates are recognized for admission to certain vocational training institutions (eg Diploma Academy, Caritas Training Center for Social Care Professions)

 

Germany

  • A1 Grundstufe Deutsch 1 (GD1) degree and all higher level ÖSD certificates (A2 to C2) are accepted as language learning certificates for spouse reunification during the visa application process (Immigration Bill 2007)

  • B1 Zertifikat Deutsch (ZD) degree and all higher level ÖSD certificates are accepted as certificates of sufficient language proficiency for applying for German citizenship

  • B2 Mittelstufe Deutsch, C1 Oberstufe Deutsch and C2 Wirtschaftssprache Deutsch degrees are accepted as language learning certificates for enrollment in German universities.

  • The B2 Mittelstufe Deutsch degree is accepted as a Certificate of Language Proficiency for health professions under German occupational recognition legislation.

 

Switzerland

  • B2 Mittelstufe Deutsch, C1 Oberstufe Deutsch and C2 Wirtschaftssprache Deutsch degrees are accepted as German language learning certificates as required for enrollment in Swiss universities.
